.FISHING

The Zambezi is one of Africa's premier freshwater fishing destinations. The river offers excellent fishing in beautiful surroundings. The Zambezi is most famous as being home to the Tigerfish (Hydrocynus vittatus ) but there are a number of other popular angling species to be caught here including the giant vundu (Heterobranchus longifilis ), nkupe (Distichodus mossambicus )and chessa (Distichodus shenga ). The lower Zambezi is a destination for all types of fishermen offering opportunities for bait, lure and fly-fishing.

Apart from there being plenty of action on the water, a day's fishing on the Zambezi is a lot more than that. The Lower Zambezi flows through wilderness areas and National parks on both banks and you will be fishing in the middle of large areas of often unspoilt Africa. It is not uncommon to drift past herds of elephant, the ubiquitous hippopotamus and other game while on the river.

For beginners we also have a selection of basic equipment for hire and if the action get's too much for your tackle to handle or if you run out of your 'lucky colour' we also have a selection of lures available on sale for you to replenish your tackle box.

If you have your own boat, launching facilities are available nearby and there is mooring space available for the duration of your stay at Wildtracks.
